ok, so here goes:
anne hathaway is the female lead. she acts as andrea, a girl who dreams of being a reowned journalist. so she gets introduced to this job, which is to be Miranda's assistant. Miranda is the chief editor of Runway, the famous fashion magazine. so andrea sees this job as a stepping stone to her future career. once she stays at this job for at least a year, everyone will noe her and she will have no difficulty entering a reputable press company.
however, miranda is a DEVIL. she is picky, meticulous, speaks faster than the world's roller coaster when giving out orders and expects the impossible. like getting a flight back when there is a huge storm. and very unreasonable. Andrea is this fasion-hopeless girl whom everyone in the company calls her "that thing", cuz they are simply disguested at her fashion sense.
Andrea slowly works her way up and gains Miranda's trust, and transforms from a fashion twit to a fashion diva=) but she also slowly loses the trust her friends, family and boyfriend has in her. and when miranda asks her to either help her in the biggest fashion show ever in Paris, os lose her job, she chooses to help her, and deprived another assistant of this invaluable chance.
and andrea scores again when she tried to warn Miranda that someone was trying to take over her. but turns out miranda already knows, and turns the table around and sabos her best friend cum best helper instead. so andrea was pissed off. when miranda tells her that she was just like her when she was young, andrea says she does not want to be like her, betraying her friend for her own good. and miranda says "you're already like me. you could've quit but instead you chose to come to paris. you could've choose your family and friends over your career, but u din" upon hearing this, andrea decides to leave and salvage her relationships.
not very meaningful, ppl might think.. but i think it reflects on people's mentality. remember how many times we told our family "i gota do my work, ask me questions when im done" or smth like that? turns out nowadays, we're all getting very self centered. cuz i gota admit, im like that too. if its either you take away smth from ur fren, or you lose ur job, will you do it? honestly, im at a lost too.
but i believe in "do unto others what you wan others to do unto you". i used to think this is not true, but recently, i have been proven wrong. so i guess what my mum usually says is correct too. 不是没报,只是时间未到。there's no need to feel angry, or feel the need to do smth such that another person will suffer, unless you're guilty of it in the first place. if you are right, just look on the bright side. as long as your conscience is clear, heck la. haha. who cares?? but if u hai others, then you'll feel bad wat. if u're one with conscience. yupp, so as long as you feel you're right, just let it be. at least you are able to answer to yourself=)
